Wow! Really makes you think. This is an exciting book for prepper or not! I'm sure many will enjoy this!
I have enjoyed her books and have purchased almost all of them. I wish each book had been a little longer.
Actually more like 2.75 stars for lack of believability.

This work is more of a sketch than a fully fleshed out short story, and is the least substantial and believable of the trio of stories that include the longer "The Long Road Home," and the intermediate in length "Rally Point Bugging Home."

I will not give the plot away be reciting the mix of improbable events, coincidences, chance meetings with helpful strangers, proactive self-help, and what I see as incredible good luck which allows the couple in this story to evade serious injury and possible arrest/U.S. government internment, and to be able to return home from Germany, essentially unscathed--after traveling on foot, by ocean capable boat, by small plane, horseback, rail, car, and snowmobile to their home in Montana--all within a week of landing in a Europe (and a world) wracked by chaos and violence.

The other review--so far--says that "Pond" contains good tips for preppers. Rather than any specific tips about,say, gear, the tip I took away from Pond was about attitude and situational awareness; to keep your eyes open, to keep on the move toward your objective, to act decisively, and to quickly size-up and take advantage of opportunities as they appear.
This is a ripping yarn! It keeps the reader eager to turn the page and its very hard to put down. Written with realism and real emotion. Loved it!
I really like the author. I've read most of her books and I've enjoyed all of them. I like the pace and how real she makes circumstances seem. I do wish her books were a little longer though. Still, a great read.
This author writes a very good series on survival in her books. They have much suspense, and hard to put down once one starts reading. I have read all of her books in the survival category. Very knowledgable.
The author really put some thought into the details. The story leaves you with trepidation of what could happen in these situations. A good read, makes you want to learn some more skills! Definitely worth reading and sharing.
